Winner of 24 races (17 in Australia), the great New Zealander remains the only horse to win the Cox Plate, the Caulfield Cup and the Melbourne Cup in the same season.
Ern McQuillan snapped Rising Fast as Bill Williamson took him onto the track. Williamson, who won ten races on the gelding, was champion Victorian jockey six times. He won several major races overseas including the Prix De L’Arc De Triomphe on two occasions.
