Steve has kindly allowed me to “pinch” a very interesting chat he had recently with Sydney Clerk Of The Course Cliff Parker.
Cliff is one of many wonderful horsemen to carry out this important role on Australian racecourses for two centuries. They are instantly recognizable in their red coats, black velvet cap, highly polished boots and sitting astride beautifully groomed grey horses.
Cliff started at Newcastle more than forty years ago and worked only part time for many years. You’ll be fascinated to hear about his day job.
