PRYDE’S EASIFEED COUNTRY TRAINER OF THE MONTH AWARD FOR MAY 2024

In a month marred by an unusually high number of “washouts” Taree trainer Glen Milligan did well to notch four wins from just fifteen starts. Three of the four came from a hometrack treble on May 27th. Stable apprentice Teighan Worsnop got the ball rolling with a maiden win on Floss’s One in the third race and made it a double on $10,000 online purchase Shihab two races later. Jeff Penza later brought up the treble for Glen when he saluted on Bob’s Last One in the 1250m Class 1. Four days later the trainer made it a quartet of wins with King Cornelius (Matthew Bennett) at the Coffs Harbour meeting.

Glen Millligan has been around horses most of his life, but took out his own licence as recently as February of 2023 following the passing of his father Bob Milligan. The elder Milligan had posted not far short of 1000 wins in a long and distinguished career on the NSW north coast. Bob is best remembered for his deeds with horses like Carael Boy, winner of twenty races including eight at stakes level and multiple winners Centre Fire and Bullet Express. Glen picked up where his father left off and has maintained a healthy strike rate since taking over the operation early in 2023.

His best performer to date is That’s Molly, another of his astute purchases from the bi-monthly Inglis Online Auction. Her $7000 auction price has been offset by earnings of over $183,000 since joining the Milligan stable. That’s Molly has posted six wins including a barnstorming victory in the Country Championship Wild Card at Scone on March 22nd - one of the best bush performances of the current season. A Heavy 8 track brought the chestnut mare undone in Asgarda’s Championship Final at Randwick.

Glen is delighted with the progress of his stable apprentice Teighan Worsnop who recently transferred from her grandfather Garry at Albury to the Milligan stable. Teighan filled the position vacated by Zad Wadick who elected to join the Brad Widdup stable at Hawkesbury after outriding his country allowance.

Glen Milligan’s performance during the month of May has earned him the Pryde’s EasiFeed Country Trainer Of The Month Award. Twelve bags of Pryde’s EasiPerformance will be delivered to the stable in the near future.
