STEVE HART CHATS WITH YOUNG HORSE BREAKER CHARLIE BRISTER

Gun race photographer Steve Hart occasionally enjoys switching his trusty camera over to video mode and finding an interesting guest. Steve is fully aware that the racing careers of yearling thoroughbreds are greatly influenced by the education they receive early in life. He recently visited the central coast property where Charlie Brister plies his trade as one of Sydney’s most respected breakers.

Early in life Charlie much preferred to have his head buried in a book, rather than fritter away time with horses. It’s a totally different story today. He’s rarely out of the saddle, either educating a future racehorse or sailing over an obstacle in the showjumping arena.

Steve talks with the young horseman whose mother Martha and stepfather Paul Cave enjoy a successful training partnership.
