Steve Hart indicated he would step up his racing interview quota following his recent retirement from the ranks of Sydney race day photographers. He wasted no time in lining up a chat with 22 year old Mollie Fitzgerald - a rising star among NSW country based apprentices.
Mollie, daughter of former successful Sydney rider Malcolm Fitzgerald posted almost 50 winners in the recently concluded 2023/2024 season and is away to a “flyer” in the new term. She notched a double at Grafton on Monday and won another race at Muswellbrook yesterday taking her to 19 wins since August 1st. She has only James McDonald and Nick Heywood in front of her on the jockey’s table. Mollie, who’s apprenticed to Taree trainer Tony Ball shares her story with Steve Hart.
